Once again, we gather to celebrate our Nation’s
Independence with a weekend filled with events for all. Let the flags
be flown and let the fun begin!
To all active and retired military personnel of
Baraga County – we salute you. It is our honor to plan this holiday
celebration for you in return for what you do or have done for us. To
those who have bravely given their lives for our freedom, please
remember them and their families in your prayers. The dedication and
sacrifice all of these fine men and women have given should always be
held in the forefront.
To all of our advertisers, those who have been with
us long-term and those who are new to the booklet, our sincerest
thanks. Our booklet is our main fund raiser and with your sponsorship,
we are able to provide the prizes for the children, the parade
participants, the Queen candidates and more. Please be sure to shop
locally and support these businesses.
We would like to thank the Keweenaw Bay Indian
Community for the generous donation, year after year, towards our
fireworks. The entire county benefits from your generosity and we are
most thankful.
We would like to express our gratitude to Cindy
Barrett at Homestead Graphics for her unbelievable patience while
waiting for everything to complete our booklet. You are amazing.
Personally, I would like to thank Roy Kemppainen,
Baraga Village Manager, and Chris Swartz, Keweenaw Bay Tribal Chairman,
for their incredible patience and assistance they have given our
committee throughout the planning stages of Lumberjack Days. Without
their guidance and collaboration, planning would not have gone so
smoothly.
I would like to thank our committee. To the
mainstays, Lola Gerard, Phyllis Maki, and Tracy Larson, who brought so
much previous knowledge to the table and let me tap into that, I thank
you. To Scottie and Wanda, who have been there to give me pointers and
great advice, I so appreciate you! To the 2009 Committee, who were here
last year when I was unexpectedly called out of town during this holiday
and who worked tirelessly to ensure everything went off without a hitch,
I will never be able to thank you enough. To those of you who stepped
in during my absence and volunteered to assist these people, I am truly
grateful. And to the new committee members who joined us this year,
welcome and so glad you are on board! I hope you will find this venture
as enjoyable and fulfilling as I do. What an exceptional group of
people.
Finally, we would like to thank all of the
residents and business owners of Baraga County for their continued
support for the Baraga County Lumberjack Days Celebration from our
committee as a whole. Our gratitude for your ongoing encouragement and
assistance to keep this holiday celebration going can never be
measured. Our only hope is that you all have a fun, safe and memorable
4th of July, 2010.
May God Bless America.
Most Sincerely,
Gayle Isaacson
Baraga County Lumberjack Days Committee
